Project

Beyond CMOS optical sensing: NIR and SWIR Time-Resolved Readout Techniques

University of Edinburgh

Project Type: EngD

Supervisor: Prof Robert Henderson

Website: http://www.st.com

Project Abstract

This work will research & develop hi-speed optical readout circuits for NIR and SWIR detector technologies: Primarily looking to develop for Hi-speed Quantum Film (InAs & InAsSb) but not limited to other approaches: Schottky Si Photo-diode, SiGe APD/SPAD. Hi-gain readouts will be researched and avalanche gain through the Single Electron Bipolar Transistor (SEBAT) will be investigated. The circuit techniques will be developed for time-resolved continuous time analogue front ends and companion data converters.
