This summer, our first-year students joined a multi-day Makerspace Hackathon at the University of Cambridge, tackling a real-world challenge: designing a cost-effective oxygen sensor for medical generators. Working in multi-CDT teams and guided by experts, students used cutting-edge facilities to prototype solutions using optical, acoustic, and electrical approaches. The event combined hands-on learning with networking and social activities, making it a memorable experience of creativity and collaboration.
